Fridays are fun

For playgroup today we met to do a little finger painting outside. I can't imagine how Jack ended up with paint on his shirt. But their master pieces were spectacular and any modern art museum would be proud to have them.

This evening we met some friends at a park (with a tennis court). Charlie and McKay got in a few games. Batman was on call as well.

Stevie to the MTC

Today we dropped our big little-brother, Stevie, off at the MTC! (The boys kept thinking we were taking him to the "empty-sea")


He will be there until the end of July before leaving for Frankfurt, Germany. We were only there a minute before running into a buddy of his (left). To the right is the picture of him on his final cell call before I had to confiscate it.

I'll just be hanging onto that little gadget since he won't be needing it.
Oh, and his laptop too. I'll keep it real safe.

Tennis anyone?

Charlie's new passion is tennis.

He's had it in his head for awhile that he wanted to play.

Last night he was insistent, so Greg took him out.

He played until his arm hurt.

Then, when he was going to sleep last night he asked if we could play in the morning. Sure, I told him. First thing this morning we were out there hitting balls.

He really puts a lot into it. I just like the faces that he makes.

Anyone know of tennis instructor for 4 year-olds?

Charlie's preschool graduation

Today Greg, Jack, and I attended Charlie's 'last day of school celebration'... he has another year of preschool so it's not exactly a graduation for him.

He said that his last day was the funnest day ever - like a vacation. They did a cute little program and received their certificates.

Charlie's favorite part of school has probably been getting to know new friends. They gave us a CD with all of the pictures they took of the kids this year and this one with the boys reading is my favorite.

Not so many pictures

We have had lots of family in town for Al and Steph's wedding. My dad came out last week and spent lots of time with the boys letting them build inventions, taking them to the park (Jack got him to go down the noodle slide), and taking them on bike rides and walks (including a pit stop at Sonic). And for all of that? No pictures.

Al and Steph's wedding was really fun followed by a killer BBQ (additional cool points for being first of the summer) then a reception complete with ice cream cake as their wedding cake- yum. Pictures? Just a hand full.

I did get a photo of this poster-child for car seat safety though. My bad.

GiGi Hughes spent a couple of days with us before flying home this morning. We had a picnic at the park yesterday and I only took a picture of Jack with a bug (he luvs bugs).

So, in posting them, I made them all really big so that you wouldn't feel too gypped, Mom.

Busy, busy as always

We've been running crazy for the past week but the boys have made sure to get lots of bike rides in. I've broken out the roller blades to keep up with them on rides. When we're not riding around the neighborhood they're riding in a circle in the back yard. They've also figured out how to wedge their front tire by the fence to get the 'exercise bike' effect with their training wheels.



Last weekend was packed but my big thing was Katie's baby shower on Saturday. She had lots of friends and family that were able to make it. I tried not to be too cheesy with the games - we had a baby food tasting contest, a play dough making baby contest, and a couple of guessing games. I made Carmel french toast (the easiest yummiest breakfast treat ever), muffins, and had lots of blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. For dessert - a yummy cake with a blueberry filling and white chocolate cream cheese frosting. She received the most adorable gifts and it made me really excited to meet little Luke.

This weekend was supposed to be low key but ended up being just as hectic. The highlight was a spontaneous trip to Utah Lake to meet Greg's brother, Dave, and his classic boat club. We even got to ride in the cabin of a really cool boat. Afterwards we went out to lunch at Olive Garden (celebrating Mother's day), visited my Dad who's in town early for Al's wedding and my Grandparents, and bought a microwave (a momentous event since ours started to malfunction over a year ago).













On a more important note. Greg participated in Mustache May at work last week. His first mustache was inspired by Iron Man and was awesome - but, no picture. His Friday mustache though - completely filthy yet documented.

I got my flower bed planted this year!

Only 2 of the 3 perennials made it through the winter (and a random patch a sage against the house and steps, but Charlie and Jack did a great job helping me pick flowers for this year.

I planted a small Hydrangea bush which is turning out to be especially high maintenance - but I love hydrangeas (they were in my wedding bouquet and I planted it for our anniversary).





The rest of the flowers are bright annuals and I'm excited for them to mature. I have a tendency to over plant so we'll see how it goes. We have dahlias, pansies, dianthus, portulaca, and lobelia.
