I stumbled across this post on, well, now I can't find the blog I was looking at.
I'm always keeping an eye out for light weight over the bed decor (you know, in case of a middle of the night earth quake, of course). This could work. Painted lightweight urethane ceiling medallions.

Love them! And also love that you think like me..I've been worried about a lat-night earthquake since age 9!
Earthquake or not, they are terrific. So many creative ideas out there.
